Over the last few days, I’ve received several emails regarding the same topic of discussion. Black lists and obscene words…
Therefore, I thought it would be worthwhile to answer those questions within a post, for all to see, rather than privately via email.
So, within this post, you’ll find my personal list of obscene words which I have blacklisted from MOST of my own puzzle and activity books. Of course, these words are added back in, obviously, for the more mature titles or adult versions.
Remember, this is my own personal blacklist which is used in actual puzzle books I compile for my own retail sales (such as those being sold from my Amazon, Etsy, etc. accounts and my various retail websites).
This blacklist is NOT used when creating puzzle pages, packs or bundles for sale here within the LowContentCreations.com website.
• jesus christ
Now, another thing you need to be concerned with is your targeted audience. For example, when I create retail activity/puzzle books for my friends across the pond, I am careful to make certain that the following words/phrases are included in my blacklist file.
• beef curtains
You may have noticed I do NOT include variations of SOME of the words/phrases. For example, since I have “ass” listed, there really is no need to include asshole, asses, assfucker, assmunch, assmuncher, asshead, yada yada yada.
The reason for this is simply because most of the software apps I use to create puzzle/activity books, especially the softwares I’ve designed and developed myself, use algorithms to ensure variations are also blacklisted automatically and therefore, not necessary to include.
Again, when using this list, please use it as a starting point or for personal reference only.
If you can think of any words I may have missed, I’d love to hear about it. Just leave a comment below but please understand that including objectionable word or phrase, which is fine as that is what this post is about, your comment will probably be automatically flagged and held over for moderation. I will be certain to clear it for viewing as soon as possible.
